Turned out to be a good time to take a day off the road. Kelso was not feeling to good, but I think it was nerves. He finally did eat his breakfast late morning and we did a little walking about every 2 hours. It is a cool, spotty rain, kind of day. Kelso has eaten his dinner and he seems to be back on track.
In my haste to get my stuff out of the Grand Canyon Lodge yesterday, I somehow forgot my thermal coffee mug. There is a Goodwill store just down the block and they had all kinds of mugs. I found one that will do until we get home and I can order one.
We are at The Super 8 Motel on Route 66. It has2 beds in the room and above one of the beds is a enlarged picture of Route 66, as wide as the bed and about 5′ tall. The picture over the other bed says Historic Route 66 Motel, same size. The merchants along Route 66 have really taken to the theme to promote tourism.
Right now I think we will be in Needles California tomorrow night. We have about 6 towns to go thru on Route 66 but the actual Route 66 Road is no longer passable outside most of these towns. Well the Accu Weather app says it is going to the mid 50’s tonight.
Glad Kelso is feeling better. The Grand Canyon sounds beautiful. I’ve only flew over it several times, totally different.
