Today was a laid back day because we had only about a 2 hour drive. The weather was mostly sunny and low 60’s. We took our time this morning because the check-in time for tonight’s motel is 3:00. I chose a Best Western Motel that is only a mile or so from the Lexus Dealer where I am getting the car serviced tomorrow.
We left about 10:30 because check-out is 11:00. They had a very decent dog walk area in the rear of the motel and I gave Kelso a walk just before we got into the car. He was a good boy. The Traffic in Lincoln City was light and I guess the tourists are someplace else. We only had a couple of miles on the Coastal Hwy before we turned inland to go thru the Coastal Mountains. The drive was as picturesque as I remember it. The road follows the mountains as it winds thru and the trees are from the road shoulders back. Everything is very green. Like I said the traffic was not heavy but it did get heavier as we got closer to Portland.
I went by the motel about 12:45. We were in Beaverton which is a suburb of Portland. I stopped at the Lexus Dealer to verify my appointment time for tomorrow. We the picked up some carry-out for me and found a city park on Google Maps and drove there. A nice park about 2 city blocks long that had ball diamonds, a children play area and restrooms. there were also some permanent type picnic tables and as we were walking toward a shaded one when 2 adults showed up with about 20 kids and they sat at the table while the kids used the play area. Kelso and I had not gotten to the table so we just moved on to another shaded table.
The temps were in the 80’s and there was a nice breeze that made it comfortable We stayed for about 1 1/2 hours and the kids left after about an hour. I am glad I can find about anything I need on Google Maps and then have it route me there.
Tomorrow I may not post because we are going to the Lexus Dealer, then to Costco and that is pretty much it. We have a laid back day. Donna is flying in on Wednesday and we are going to visit Lenore’s sister Donna and her husband Jim.

These 3 pictures are from coming thru the pass from the Pacific to get inland of the cascades.
