Champ III: Going Places

The adventure starts here.

Day 31 – Back to St Clair, MI (approximately 374 miles from Pittsburgh, PA)

We this is the last day. We were up early and I took Kelso to a neighborhood park for his walk and he liked that. It was comfortable because it only got down to the upper 60s last night. The sun finally came out and it was a nice day.

We went up to Donna’s apartment about 7:15. She said she was going to get her workday started at 8:15 and she needed to be downstairs to let us out of the parking lot so we planned for a little before 8:00. Well, everything worked out and she was at work on time.

Getting out of Pittsburgh was another matter. I missed a turn and Google Maps immediately recognized it and changed the route to make up for the missed turn. Traffic was heavy on the surface streets but once I got on the expressway it was very good. The heavy traffic was on the other side headed into the City.

I had Google route me so there were no tolls along the way. They show the primary route and the no toll route is shown as an alternate. Even if you choose the Alternate, it has a tendency to want to save you time. You just need to be aware of it. We traveled North toward Youngstown then East to South Cleveland than North thru West Cleveland and then west, parallel to the Lake Erie shoreline. Although the drive was a little longer, it was more scenic than the Turnpike. We passed the signs for Cedar Point, the ferries to the islands, Sandusky and several others. All in all, a good ride. We ended up coming out at 280 expressway that crosses the Maumee River on the East side of Toledo. Traffic in Michigan was heavy and about 1/3 of the vehicles were semi-trucks. Once we were on I-94 the speeds picked up. I avoided one slowdown for construction by getting off at Vernier and headed North on Harper and picked up I-94 just South of 15 mile.

We made a few quick stops to start the prep to turn in the RV tomorrow. It was good to get home and Kelso was happy to be knapping in his time tested spots in the condo.

An Excellent Trip!!!

This was after the Cedar Point turnoff, we crossed a bridge that connected two parts of the Lake Erie shore. The bridge was probably a mile long.

You can see there is not a lot of traffic.

Good views of the shores along this bay. This was before Sandusky.

Kelso was happy to be on the morning walk in St Clair. This is today’s sunrise over Canada.
