Champ III: Going Places

The adventure starts here.

Day 9 & 10– July 15th, Camping Sunrise Campgrounds, Near Miramichi, N.B. (approx. 188 Miles from Yesterday)

Interesting day. I had a problem with my phone/Google Maps. It came up with the map of the area I was in and it found the City I wanted to go to, but it would not find the campground location or the route to the City. I had done the preliminary last night and everything worked. Well it was good that I remembered that I stayed on 132 west until hwy 11 and then Hwy 11 until Hwy 9. I still had access to the map but it was not even showing my position. I did not miss any turns.

Hwy 11 & 9 are in New Brunswick and what they do for their “major” roads is keep them in pretty good condition, have interchanges for exits and entrances, the speed limit is 100 KPH and it it a 2 lane road with traffic in each direction separated by a line. At least there was not a lot of traffic, so that probably justified the 2 lanes.

Arrived in Miramichi and stopped for fuel. Only $1.417 per liter which was better than yesterdays 1.574 per liter. Keep in mind there are 3.785 liters in a U S gallon. I did get a free coffee because I bought more than 25 liters, it was actually 100 liters.

I asked if they knew where the Sunrise Campgrounds were and by chance a lady that had been pumping gas spoke up that she lived right across the Hwy from the campgrounnds and it was 14 kilometers east of town. Found it without a problem.

We are settled in and again I thank the RV for having a canopy because the sun is shining and I am sitting at the picnic table. Because of the problems this morning I did not take any pictures so far today. Kelso and I will take a walk and then update this post later with some pics. The campground is on a fairly substantial river that leads to a large bay (approx. 1 mile away) and then the ocean.

Kelso got a bonus tonight. He ate dinner 1 hour early tonight. I looked at my phone and it said 5:00 pm so I fixed Kelso his dinner. Later, I looked at my watch and the my laptop and they both showed a time just before 5:00. I Googled New Brunswick time and found out that New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are on Atlantic time, the next time zone east of the eastern time zone. In the long run it does not mean much but I need to change my watch.

Down near the waters edge looking westerly up the river. Not the kind of beach you might be looking for.

From the beach area looking out toward the North Atlantic.

The slope behind the beach that keeps the water at bay during the windy periods. Kelso & I came down the path that is at the left side of the picture.
