Champ III: Going Places

The adventure starts here.

Day 24 – Cold River RV Campgrounds, Bangor Maine (approximately 127 miles from Woodstock)

We got our usual start and did Kelso’s walk with off leash on the large field. A little on the chilly side this morning as it got into the mid 50’s last night. Today is supposed to warm up. We got on the road about 9:20 because we only had about 2 hours and 10 minutes to Cold River according to Google Maps. I had made a reservation so I would not have any problems.

It took about 20 minutes to reach the USA Border crossing. Only one lane open but they were taking about 5 to 10 minutes with each vehicle. When I finally got up to the booth, they said they were taking me over to the side. Kelso & I went into the office and the guy asked me a lot of questions about purchases in Canada. I told him I did not have anything other than the food in the refrigerator/freezer. He had me fill out a form so he had what I said in writing and then he left us in the office and went out to go thru the RV and verify what I said. He spent about 5 minutes in the RV. He came back in and gave me my phone back and my passport and said I could go. They never even asked about the form I filled out on line about importing my dog, Kelso.

The rest of the trip was quite relaxing after having spent more than a 1/2 hour at Customs and Immigration. Not a lot of traffic on the road. I-95 starts right at the Customs Building and we took it until Google Maps told us to exit, about 105 miles. The sun was out for most of the trip.

We checked in at the Campgrounds and it was no problem because he already had all my info. took about 10 minutes to get the RV set and hooked up. I am sitting at the picnic table writing my posts and working on the pictures. Kelso is sitting here with his head up looking at the activity at the swimming pool and probably thinking he should be there. There is a nice breeze this afternoon, so it does not feel so warm at the table. The sun is mostly out.

We are Northwest of Bangor a little, but a reasonable amount of traffic on the roads to took to get here from I-95. Oh well, back in the USA.

These are to southbound lanes of I-95. The northbound are about 400′ or so to the left, cut out of the trees like the southbound. Not a lot of traffic.

Another view of the road that just goes on and on and on.

This is from our picnic table looking back at the entrance. The store/office is on the left of the road, at the entrance.

This is looking away from the office, at the front of our RV. Most of the campgrounds is heavily wooded.
