Champ III: Going Places

The adventure starts here.

Day 22 – Fundy National Park & Three Bears Family Camping, New Brunswick (approximately 227 miles from Paradise)

It was pretty grey outside this morning so we took our time. We actually did 2 walks down to the Bay of Fundy where I took the 1st pictures yesterday. We got on the road and followed Google Maps. Not much traffic on the roads as we went East, then North and then turned West as we went around the end of the Bay of Fundy. All the roads were kind of secondary, 2 lane roads until we reach Truro NS. I stopped for gas and then we took Hwy 104 which is the Trans-Canada Hwy, 4 lanes divided. All went well and we got to the Bay of Fundy National Park.

The way I usually handle the Campgrounds is to show up early and get a space. It did not work today as all the Campgrounds in the Park were full. The Ranger suggested some private ones just outside the park to the East and gave me a brochure for the Village they are in. Kelso and I went to the Scenic Lookout across from the Campground and had another great look at the Bay of Fundy. I started reviewing my options and decided to move to a private campground along the route that we would take when we left the area. That is how we ended up at the Three Bears Family Camping Park. They had lots of room as they were about 25 kilometers from the park.

Nice campgrounds with a very friendly staff that really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. We even had our choice of the empty camping areas, maybe a dozen or so. All we had to do was let the Office know when we selected on. Kelso & I made our choice and parked. Both of us got out of the RV to get everything hooked up, Kelso supervises. Kelso had his leash on but I was not holding it. He went to visit the campers 2 spaces away, at least he had his leash on. The campers welcomed him.

Kelso is sleeping right now on the lawn next to the RV while I am at the picnic table posting. I will get a few pictures from this area to post. When we went to the scenic Look-out I had left my phone in the RV, Oh Well.

We had a good evening and the fellow campers are friendly. Kelso got lots of pats and scritches. We spent most of the time at the picnic table and Kelso loves the outside.

We are on a huge park field with a variety of different equipment, swings, slide, volley ball, horseshoes, basketball, etc. for the camping kids. In the time we have been here (not long) I have not seen anyone on the park area. Kelso likes it for the walk because I can take him off leash. Our RV is a little left center.

This is looking a little more to the South so you can see the trees and general setting for the park.

This is looking toward the main entrance with the Hwy to the left.

This is the Western end of the park and maybe they use this for camping if they need the room.

  1. sounds like you and Kelso are having a great trip. The pictures are great and I see that you avoided getting caught by the tide at the Bay of Fundy.

    1. It was a great Campground to see the Bay Of Fundy. I think I saw more there than when we stopped at the scenic look-out before we left the Park. I am just glad dirty clothes were the only issue with my fall on the beach. We are now back in the USA near Bangor Main. Working on posts. Did not have internet last night.
