Kelso & I got up early today, just before 7:00 and met Peter at the house. Kelso was anxious to get the day started because he thought it was going to be like yesterday, off leash and free to move about. We it was for about an hour or so and then I wanted to get the RV packed up, Kelso fed, and get on the road. Peter and Wayne were going for their beach walk.
Being Sunday there were next to no cars on the road. Bridgewater was empty and the highways I took were essentiall empty. It took us about 1 ¾ hours to get to Paradise by the Bay Campgrounds. It is on the south shore of the Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world. After everything was situated, Kelso and I took a walk to the beach by way of a stair. We did not know where it was except further to the North. The 1st area we came to had a lot of weeds buffering the north edge of the tent campground. I walked up to it and looking over the top of the weeds I could see that right there was about a 60 to 70 shear drop down to the beach so we walked the road a little and came to the stairs. The stairs are some railroad ties built into the side of the drop and it goes down maybe 10′. Then you have a rope with a few loops in it that you can use to let yourself down huge rock steps and then finally some sloping rocks to the beach area. By the way, Kelso found his way down without much problem. At the bottom of all the rocks was a beach area that extended several hundred feet to the waters edge. I pulled out my phone and the current tide was an incoming tide from the Atlantic was going to be 45′-8” higher than the low tide earlier this morning. I fell once when my foot just slipped on the thin coating of sand on a slightly sloping rock (no damage other than muddy shoes and jeans).
We did not stay long at the beach because the water coming in would come in reasonable fast. Kelso met 3 other dogs at the beach that were playing in the water and he joined in. The dogs owners were surf fishing. We took a very carefully chosen route to get back to the stairs and going up was not bad because of the rope. I don’t think I want to do that again but I am glad I did it once. I hosed Kelso down at the RV to get rid of the residual salt in his wet fur and right now he is sleeping on the grass.

Typical Nova Scotia Hwy going acoss the main island from SW to NE.

This is the beach at Bay of Fundy looking Northeast from the 1st area I looked for the stairs.

I have rotated about 90 degrees to the west from the photo above.

This is where the stairs came down. They are in the shade on the upper portion of the break in the vegetation. The sloping rocks from the beach going up are a great assist.

This is looking Southwest along the cliff along the Bay of Fundy.

This is Kelso in the Bay of Fundy with one of his new buddies. I think that is a St Bernard Dog.
