Little chilly this morning with temps in the high 50’s.  The sky was clear so it warmed up as the sun moved higher in the sky.  No rain forecast for today so it should be a good day to travel.

We are now in the part of the Erie Canal that has lift bridges.  We had no locks today but we had probably 10 lift bridges.  They have some of the operators handling more than one bridge so if he is not at the bridge you are at you have to wait.  The only one we waited for was in Spencerport, the 1st one.  After he let us thru he went to the next lift bridge to get us thru that one then he called ahead and each operator called ahead to the next bridge for us. It really went quite smooth.

We did pass an aqueduct on the Erie today.  It is the only place on the Erie Canal where a road goes under the canal.  If I had not read about it I probably would have missed it.  Not much to see from the boat.

We did pass several boats headed east today including the 2 canal rental boats that were with us the other day on our way to Spencerport.  A little more traffic today but still not an awful lot.  We saw no other boats going our way or heard of any on the radio.

Some of the canal banks around here have orchards along the side of the canal. I believe we saw apples which appeared to be ripening and another fruit on a vine like plant that was staked in rows and some were 10′ to 12′ high.  These were not grapes and they looked like peaches that were also starting to turn a reddish yellow.

We arrived at Medina and decide that with the dock space available we would stay.  The write-ups indicated that this was better than the next town west which is Middleport.  There were 2 boats there and the gentleman off the sailboat helped us dock at the pump out facility.  The pump out is free in Medina and they house it in a building that looks like an outhouse, complete with the 1/2 moon on the door.  When that was complete we moved back to the wall where the power and water is located.  No charge for any of the services.

We found out the gentleman who helped us is a resident of Medina and his son owns one of the restaurants, Zambistro.  I think we will try it tonight for dinner. He also gave me the layout of where everything is in town and there are quite a few restaurants.

Not sure, but we may stay here 2 days and then head to Tonawanda and the Niagara River.
