It was cool this morning and I wore a sweatshirt during Candy’s 1st walk.  It warmed rapidly after that and the winds were light and stayed that way during the day.

John and Deni cast off about 7:00 for their run to Beaufort, SC.  We had a short easy day so we left about 9:00. with a very slack tide at the dock which made it easy to get off the dock.

Georgia along the ICW is mostly low lands or marshy areas.  The trees are quite a distance back from the ICW.  There is not a lot of development along the ICW with just a few towns/cities. The locals are all located back up the creeks that feed into the ICW.

It was surprising but there was not a lot of traffic today on the ICW. We passed one small sailboat, about 30′.  There were some fishermen out but not much going on.

Coming into the Savannah area there is more development with a lot of nice homes along the ICW. We even passed a small marina with very nice floating docks that was private.  It did not show up on the charts, guide books or in active captain.

We originally were going to stay at the same marina that we stayed at last year but they said they were full when we called. We called Thunderbolt Marina right next door and they were also full. We tried calling the marina across the ICW, Hinkley’s but no one answered the phone. Isle of Hope Marina had room for us.  We are located on the ICW of their main dock and it was a little rocky during the day in spite of the fact that this is a no wake zone. Everything seemed to calm down after the sun went down.

Isle of Hope is a nice area with some older homes along the water and there is a waterfront road that Candy and I have used for her walks. We are not to far from town and the marina has a couple of courtesy cars available.  We went to dinner last night at a restaurant called Saltwater Grille.  It was excellent. Lenore had a Salmon BLT sandwich, modified to Shrimp BLT.

Right now we planned on staying 2 nights but there is some heavy weather moving thru the south and we may be here until Friday.
